Mesquite Trails Elementary School

Mesquite families: Thank you for all of your support recently. Next week looks a little less busy. :)

Mesquite families: Today, Ms. Butler's class learned a bit about how our communities are built, learning about construction workers, engineers, architects, and the tools and machines they use. They tried their hand at building bird feeders, thanks to the generosity of Home Depot. The kids loved it, but the consensus was that construction is hard work.

Recently, Mrs. Ferrara's class had eight days of perfect attendance. They got to experience our new "Perfect Attendance Popsicles" complete with an awesome-looking vehicle, created by our custodian, David. Make sure to be here every day, so that your class can win, too.

Mesquite families: Have you ever wondered why we pass out popsicles? What's a positive referral that I got a phonecall about? Why did my child receive a golden ticket? If you're curious what we do here to reward our SOARing Eagles, read this. :)

Yesterday was Grandparent's Day in TK. So great to see how many grandmas and grandpas showed up. Grandparents rock!

Mesquite families: Recently, our kindergarteners had a small Mesquite Trails hospital day. Check out the great learning taking place.

Mesquite families: This school year, as a way to motivate our students to attend school every day, we will be having a special exclusive lunch at the end of May for all students who have perfect attendance for the entire year. Students will be treated to lunch with their principals. Also, every family who has a child with perfect attendance through the entire year will be placed in a drawing for a fabulous gift card. So, make sure that your child attends school every day.

Helping Our Little Eagles Fly into the Classroom!

TK and Kindergarten families-

Morning drop-offs can be tough on parent hearts, but building a strong "goodbye routine" helps our students feel secure and ready to learn.

How to help at the gate:
Give a sweet hug and kiss.

Say your cheerful goodbye phrase ("Have a fun day!").

Walk away smoothly!

Lingering at the fence makes it harder for kids to let go and jump into playing. When you walk away with a smile, it shows them that school is a safe, happy place!

Today, our fourth graders were treated to a music assembly by our fabulous music teacher, Mr. Moreno. Look how well-behaved our students are! Way to go Eagle students and staff.

Our Mesquite Eagles participated in the SOAR assembly today, where we reviewed behavior expectations, incentives, and talked about how to be safe, on-task, always respectful, and responsible. Looking forward to a great year at Mesquite!
